      am I missing something?

      Let’s work this one out together:
      =(25x + 30y) + (8y-5x) – (2x)
      =18x + 38y
      =Same answer as Gabriele’s. Did you get to the same answer as us Niamh?

      Oh guys I’m terrible at maths – I write out all my lab calculations on the worktop with marker, its a messy sight to see!

      I think Niamh is trying to trick us guys! Good try, but yes I got the same answer! 18x + 38y
      This type of question doesn’t really have an answer simpler than this. When you get to secondary school and start studying a type of maths called ‘algebra’ then you will find out all there is to know about it! And there is lots!
